20 CTA’s that actually convert at your fingertips.

One of the most crucial aspects of conversion is your copywriting. Customers want to be told, without being told, what they need to do. They need clear and succinct direction to take action and do what you’re asking them to do.

There is a fine line between sales-y copywriting and converting copywriting. No one wants to sound like a used car salesman (no offence to car salesmen), especially when trying to sell their unique products or offer exclusive services.

As a business owner there is a long list of things you need to know how to do, and effective copywriting should be way up on that list. You will be using copywriting throughout every touchpoint of your business – so it needs to be catchy. Your brand voice is just as important as your visuals and it’s crucial that it stays consistent, shares your brand personality and converts. Because ultimately, that’s what we’re all in business for, right?

What is a ‘call to action’?

A call to action (CTA) is a piece of content (or specifically text) intended to induce an audience to perform a specific act, typically taking the form of an instruction or directive.

Audience

You want your brand to have personality and intrigue, so don’t play it safe! You can give your brand a heavy dose of personality through how you speak to your customer. For example, I call my audience friends and I always ask how their day is going. It shows genuine care and respect for them. They feel connected to me and are willing to open up. This relates back to one of our core values of connection.

Think about your brands core values and use one of them to dictate the way you engage with your audience. For example:

  • Hey lovers!

  • Afternoon friends

  • Hey fellow small business owner

What do you want your audience to do?

Now we’re getting down to the nitty gritty. Now that you’ve got the way you speak to your audience, it’s time to get them to actually do something. Avoid using terms like:

These are impersonal, generic and don’t really inspire action. Instead try something like:
